Built-in DNS ad blocking in MintFlow 2.1.0

Block ads and trackers on iPhone and iPad with MintFlow's free DNS filter. Learn to enable AdGuard, HaGeZi, or OISD lists with your own DNS resolver.

MintFlow 2.1.0 can block matching advertising and tracking domains locally, before a DNS query goes upstream. DNS ad blocking is Free on iOS and works with your existing DNS resolvers, in Simple Mode or Rules Mode. No remote VPN service, AdGuard account, or MITM certificate is required.

Enable it

  1. Select your profile and open DNS & Routing → DNS Ad Blocking.
  2. Turn on Block ads with DNS. Choose AdGuard DNS filter (default), HaGeZi Multi Normal, or OISD Small, then save.
  3. Keep internal DNS enabled and connect MintFlow VPN. You can use Direct for all traffic.
  4. Check the active state in Tools → DNS Runtime → DNS Ad Blocking. If a change is pending, follow the reconnect guidance.

All three lists have bundled offline snapshots. The app refreshes enabled lists asynchronously; Refresh list checks manually. A failed update retains the last accepted copy. Filter-only changes can apply live when the running tunnel supports them.

Know what it blocks

A matching query receives an empty DNS answer (NODATA). The domain checker and DNS Log’s rule-type filter help explain decisions. Explicit forwarding domain sets and keywords take priority over the ad filter, so keep exceptions narrow.

DNS filtering cannot remove every ad or hide empty page elements. Ads sharing a hostname with wanted content, app-owned encrypted DNS, and cached addresses can evade it. Choose another list or disable filtering if a site breaks; use a narrow domain-set exception in Rules Mode.
