NovaScale 1.7.0: Native Herdr and Remote Terminal Workflows
Bring Herdr workspaces and coding agents to iPhone and iPad, with native SSH controls, command suggestions, tmux fixes, and Remote Codex improvements.
NovaScale 1.7.0 brings native Herdr access to iPhone and iPad. Connect to your Linux or Mac host, switch between workspaces and agents, and return to ongoing remote work from your phone or tablet.
Herdr: an agent multiplexer, now within reach
Herdr organizes terminal workspaces, tabs, and coding agents on your host. Like other terminal multiplexer workflows, it lets you detach from a session while the remote work keeps running. NovaScale adds native controls for accessing those Herdr sessions over Tailscale or traditional SSH.
- Discover and select Herdr sessions, including multiple sessions on one host.
- Switch workspaces, tabs, and agents; follow agent status without navigating everything through terminal keystrokes.
- Rename and close tabs, pin sessions for quick return, and detach without stopping remote agents.
- Paste clipboard images and use dictation on supported devices.
- Free use includes three daily visits and one pin. Pro adds unlimited visits and pins, plus file and photo uploads, including from the system Share sheet.
Herdr runs on your own host and requires a compatible installation. NovaScale 1.7.0 was tested with Herdr 0.9.1.
SSH and terminal multiplexer workflows
- Command and argument suggestions help with terminal input; optional Bash/Zsh shell integration adds shell context.
- Terminal history is preserved when reconnecting.
- Fixed tmux session detection on affected hosts.
- Added a newline control and dedicated debug logging, and improved the accessory keyboard, themes, and review of changed SSH host keys.
Native Herdr access and tmux support serve different workflows: use Herdr’s workspace and agent controls when working with Herdr, or continue using tmux through the SSH terminal.
Remote Codex
- LaTeX math rendering, adjustable text size, and line spacing improve readability.
- Search across projects, use the redesigned thread list, and synchronize pins with compatible Codex desktop hosts.
- Added follow-up replies and updated model and Codex CLI 0.159.0 compatibility.
- Improved thread-list freshness and connection recovery.
Remote Codex requires your own Codex CLI/app-server. See the Remote Codex guide for setup.
Web, files, and reliability
This release improves browser address entry and access to history, favorites, and download progress; fixes obscured Jellyfin playback controls on iPad; and expands SFTP syntax highlighting, including TypeScript.
It also improves external-disk monitoring, monitoring reconnection, iCloud sync, and diagnostics. Fixes cover Codex and microphone crashes, plus Herdr readability, selection, and foreground recovery. An in-app update check is now available.
Built-in tailnet, fewer interruptions to your work
Built-in Tailscale puts host discovery, SSH, private web tools, and remote coding access inside the same workspace. Move from a terminal to a dashboard or a coding session with fewer app switches. Session recovery and pinned sessions help you return to work after a network change or time away from the app. The remote host and its session tools keep the work running; NovaScale gives you a convenient way back in.
Coming in 1.8.0: Herdr agent push notifications
Herdr agent push notifications will be added in NovaScale 1.8.0, so you can be notified when remote agents need your attention. This is an upcoming feature, separate from the existing Remote Codex push notifications.
